Road works on the A52
Bottleneck near Tiefenbroich in the direction of Düsseldorf Airport

Old concrete slabs and edgings, unearthed beneath the A52 near Tiefenbroich in the course of the road works, are causing delays to the completion of the work in the direction of Düsseldorf. The North Rhine-Westphalia Office for Highway Maintenance regrets that commuters on this stretch of motorway will continue to be subject to delays.

The reduction to one lane will probably remain in force until 21 August. Only then will the work have reached a point where two lanes can be re-opened through the road works. This may result in longer journey times to Düsseldorf Airport. All the road works will be finished by the end of the holidays.

You are recommended to use the signposted diversion via the A3 to Ratingen-Ost onto the A44 in the direction of Mönchengladbach/Düsseldorf. The latest information is available at www.strassen.nrw.

The Star Alliance is growing
Aegean is new to the Airline Association

The private Greek airline Aegean Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance since 30 June. Aegean is the 28th member of the aviation alliance, which includes Lufthansa, United, Thai, Singapore Airlines and many others.

Membership is of special significance for the airline and for the whole of Greece because the country does not have an airline of its own with any long distance connections. The Star Alliance partnership opens the doors to the hubs of the associated carriers, connecting Greece to the world.

Aegean Airlines takes off daily from Düsseldorf to Athens and Thessalonica, and in the summer months there is also a weekly flight to Rhodes.

The A380 is coming
Lufthansa’s superjumbo is stopping at Düsseldorf Airport on 3 June for two hours

Before Lufthansa’ s first A380 flies the German national football team to Johannesburg, Lufthansa pilots are undertaking numerous training flights with the Lufthansa fleet’s new flagship. After a month’s training in the A380 simulator, these flights – with no passengers on board – will enable the aircraft to gain its licence. The flight training will be concerned with take offs and landings and will also provide pilots with en route experience.

As part of this training programme, the Lufthansa A 380 is landing in Düsseldorf at 1.30 pm on 3 June. Before it takes off again at 3.30 pm, it will be standing for two hours – with a very good view from visitors’ terrace – at positions A10 to A16.

On 19 May the first A380 will be handed over by Airbus to Lufthansa and be given the name ‘Frankfurt am Main’.

Further information on the visit of the A380 to Düsseldorf will follow shortly.
